What’s New

Summary

Since The Promise prioritised the reduction, and where possible elimination, of the use of physical restraint, many organisations have progressed important work in different ways. This project adds to that work by gathering consistent information across Scotland, by learning from practice where restraint has been reduced or avoided, and by sharing that learning through the development of resources.

This page will tell you about what’s going on in those processes.

This project aims to serve the development of the residential child care workforce, and so we’ve designed it to listen to what workers have to say. If you’re interested in doing this, please get in touch with SPRAG. The survey, which will be live in early autumn 2026, is also key to hearing from the entire Scottish residential care workforce.

Holding Differently is also looking for champions to help disseminate the survey to all residential care workers. If you would like to help, go to Get in touch to email the project team directly.
